Under the legislation a worker who is not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national and who is working illegally in the United States or who was legally here but has been gone from the United States for 6 consecutive months could recover from Social Security only the amount he or she contributed to the system. plus interest. If at the time of enactment of this legislation the illegal alien has recovered the amount he contributed to the system. then he shall not be entitled to any future payments. For the worker who was legally here but now living abroad. if he remains out of this country for 6 months from the date of enactment of this legislation and has recovered the amount of money he paid into the system. he will not be entitled to future payments.
