Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990019460

I rise today to again speak as a participant In the congressional call to conscience vigil for Soviet Jewry. While it is always a privilege to speak here on the floor. I believe that those of us who are a part of this ongoing effort on behalf of those in the Soviet Union who are denied the right to emigrate feel this as a tremendous responsibility as well. Here In this country we often take our freedom for granted. However. the problems confronting many people in the Soviet Union cause me to pause and to realize that the Congress and the people of the United States must do everything possible to assist those who are not afforded such freedoms.
