This action led to Vladimirs harassment. and eventual dismissal from his Job at a construction bureau. In April 1977. Vladimir and Izoldas son was finally permitted to emigrate to Israel. But there was a price that Igor had to pay: He alone was permitted to emigrate. and his parents were to be left behind to continue their harsh existence under the Soviet authorities. The separation of the Tufeld family has been especially painful because Igor has since married. and fathered a son whom his parents have never seen. Igor has also traveled to the United States on several occasions to encourage support for his parents.
