Kims wife. Henrietta. and daughter. Victoria. were allowed to emigrate to Israel. Victoria married and has a young daughter. Kim received additional refusals to his applications for emigration in 1978 and On March 18. 1981. he was arrested and charged with alleged "parasitism." After a 2month confinement in Kievs Lukianovka Prison. he was brought to trial on May 19 and sentenced to 1 year in a labor camp. According to the National Conference on Soviet Jewry. Kim. who suffers from heart disease and has not been able to hold a steady job since 1979. worked as a bookbinder whenever his health permitted.
