At that meeting we devoted one of four separate discussions to human rights and the issue of Soviet Jews. The Soviets are now apparently willing to talk. We have been diligent in our efforts to raise the issue of human rights with the Soviets. But we must not lose the valuable opportunity that now faces us. We must press even harder to demonstrate this countrys fierce concern for the rights of Jews and of all the Soviet minorities to practice their faiths in peace and to freely emigrate if they so desire. We will not relent in our efforts to assist these oppressed peoples.o
