Ethnic American Day is intended to recognize the valuable contributions that ethnic Americans have made to our way of life. Their distinct heritages and cultures have all been important in the development of American society. Our ethnic Americans have contributed valuable ideas. patriotic devotion. and diligent effort to the development of their country. Their accomplishments are readily apparent in the arts. sciences. medicine. agriculture. business. labor. and government. Without them. America as we know it could not exist. Throughout the long and distinguished history of our country. we have been shaped by the millions of immigrants who have reached our shores. They chose the United States of America. They chose to live in this land of freedom and opportunity.
