Two days later. however. he was again picked up. again pressured to become an informer. When he refused. he was beaten again. On his release. the officer specifically mentioned his friends Yakov Gorodetsky and Leonid Rokhlin. and told Mikhail to warn them that they could expect "to be next in line for special treatment." Dina Elman and her mother were given permission to leave the Soviet Union in February of 1983. After Dina married Kikhail. however. their request for exist visas was turned down. No reason for this refusal was given by Soviet officials. The Elmans live at 103 Suzdalsky Prospect.
