Unfortunately. due to the heavy legislative calendar. H.R. 4447 did not make it to the House floor for a vote. Nonetheless. I intend to promptly reintroduce the bill at the start of the next session of Congress. In the meantime. I am appealing to the Reagan administration to halt the deportation of Salvadorans. at least until Congress has had a chance to consider this legislation early next year. I. along with several of my colleagues. have sent a letter to the President urging him to take this action. Mr. Speaker. for the benefit of my colleagues. I would like to insert in the REcoRD a copy of that letteras well as an article which recently appeared in the Boston Globe concerning a Salvadoran family now living in Boston.
