I am pleased to support the recent adoption of the conference report and the passage of S. 2574. This bill reauthorizes and reforms programs supporting health professions training. nurse training. the National Health Service Corps. Community Health Centers. Migrant Health Centers. and Health Maintenance Organizations. In addition. the bill establishes a small demonstration program of grants to States for primary care and directs the Secretary to conduct studies and develop recommendations on the most useful means of providing consumer information to purchasers of health care. These programs under the Public Health Service Act are small in dollars but large in importance.
