Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980273517

Mr. Speaker. I had the opportunity to visit an Afghan refugee camp In Pakistan to discuss with Afghan refugees their plight. Currently. there are more than 4 million Afghan refugees and the Government of Pakistan is to be commended for their humanitarian efforts on behalf of the refugees. I witnessed in those people at that refugee camp a fierce determination to rid from their homeland the invading Soviet Army. It is incumbent upon all of us who wish to see the Soviets driven from Afghanistan to explore all options to support effectively the people of Afghanistan in their fight for freedom. Accordingly.
