Mr. Speaker. I want to add my voice to those of my colleagues who are participating in this special order today to again speak out on the desperate situation of Soviet Jews who wish to emigrate. The situation is at its gravest with only 83 Soviet Jews being able to emigrate in With the Soviet Foreign Minister. Andrei Gromyko. in the United States for talks with our President. it is important and necessary that those talks include the human rights of those Soviet citizens who wish to emigrate. In addition to the denial to emigrate. Soviet Jews face antiSemitic campaigns which are officially sanctioned not to mention the added harassment of those who wish to protest the policy and are often imprisoned or exiled internally. Mr.
