Mr. Speaker. as part of the 1984 Congressional Call to Conscience Vigil for Soviet Jewry. I would like to bring a new case of courage and persecution to the attention of my colleagues. Alekandr Kholmiansky is currently being detained for teaching Hebrew and applying for an emigration visa. In the last 2 months. the KGB has twice framed him for crimes he has not committed. He now faces charges of antiSoviet activities which require long terms of imprisonment. He has already lost his job as a computer scientist and now may not even be able to continue working as a janitor.
