In particular. I am pleased to note that S. 2836 includes a significant increase in funds for the National Institutes of Health. collectively. the Institutes will receive $687 million more than last year. In addition. $124 million more is appropriated in the area of health care delivery and assistance. which supports such activities as migrant health programs. black lung clinics and community health centers. S. 2836 also includes $41 million more for nurse practitioners. physicians assistants and health administration programs. Of this amount. $3 million will fund critical projects in high priority underserved areas that will increase health promotion. disease prevention and rural health care services.
