Mr. Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to commemorate the 50th birthday of Kim Fridman. a Soviet refusenik whom I adopted this spring. Kim has been trying to emigrate to Israel since 1971. Repeatedly. he has been refused a visa on the grounds of secrecy. He has been separated from his family since 1976. when his wife Genrietta and daughter Victoria were allowed to emigrate. He now has a baby granddaughter whom he has never seen. In March 1981. Kim was arrested and charged with parasitism. even through the prosecutor found it difficult to present evidence that he was unemployed for as short a period as 2 months.
