Nicaragua is the primary source of instability and the major obstacle to peace in the region. It is out of place in this hemisphere. What do the Nicaraguan people think about the police state they live in? Since 1979. over 200.000 out of a total population of about 2.5 million have fled. The Sandinistas have threatened to export their revolution all the way to the Rio Grande. Failure to stand fast now will trigger a floodtide of additional refugees into our country from Central America that will make the current influx seem like a ripple. Just who are the Contras? Are they merely soldiers of fortune?
