That woman is Ida Nudel. When I firt arrived in Congress in 1979. adopting Ida Nudel as my Prisoner of Conscience. she was a prisoner in Siberia. jailed for asserting her human rightsrights affirmed by international accordsto practice her religion and be reunited with her family. Today. Ida Nudel is .till a prisonerforced by the Soviet regime to live in a small provincial town. far from her home in Moscow. denied the health care she needs. condemned to a menial job. and harassed each time she gathers with Jewish friends.
