GALA Bilingual Theater. the Washington Urban League. the Hispanic Womens Center. This year she was nominated a Washingtonian of the year by Washingtonian magazine. At her untimely death. she was in the midst of working actively within the John Glenn for President campaign. and she was creating a new board of directors to help fund Amigos del Centro Catolico. an organization dedicated to helping the Hispanic refugee community in Washington. Today a very special event is taking place at the Peruvian Embassy. Friends of Raquel are gathering together to pay tribute to this great woman by continuing her work within the Hispanic community.
