Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980230538

Yet one thing is for sure. that these unique Jews. who are so remote from the rest of the Jewish world. still hold steadfast to their religious convictions. despite the centuries of continuous antiSemitism. For over 2.750 years the Falashas have had but one dream. the dream of living in their "promised land." the land of Israel. But due to many years of persecution. and severe antiSemitism they were unable to emigrate. Today. with the problems of civil war. drought. disease. increased guerrilla activity and forced assimilation jeopardize the survival of this small Jewish community. It is appalling to me that people are judged on their religious convictions.
