This important legislation is intended to overturn the Supreme Courts Grove City against Bell decision limiting title IX antidiscrimination protection. The Supreme Court was mistaken when it decided to limit the application of title IX and it is time for us to reverse the impact of this Court decision. Historically. education has been a major route for countless immigrants and other Americans to improve their quality of life and to broaden their opportunities in the United States. Title IX and the Civil Rights Acts have broadened these opportunities to include women. minorities. the aged. and the disabled. The Grove City decision undermines this national commitment.
