Mr. Chairman. after 7 full days of debate. the House has concluded its consideration of the Immigration Reform and Control Act and is now prepared to vote on final passage. It has been a historic debate. in my view. characterized by a notable lack of rancor and animosity as this body has grappled with the very difficult and emotional issue of immigration in America. I would like to commend my colleagues for the orderly and dignified manner in which this debate has been conducted. specifically. I must salute my distinguished colleague. Congressman RON MAZZOLI. for his leadership on this issue and for the excellent job he has done of managing the bill on the floor of the House.
