Unfortunately. their job was not good enough insofar as many citizens of the United States are concerned. I say that because I firmly believe that the legislation. if it is passed or when it is passed. will actually go to conference in a worse state than it was in its original form. The bill is not immigration reform. but a bill that is designed to provide a steady flow of cheap labor to the growers of this Nation. and consequently destroy the United Farmworkers Union. It violates the civil rights of Hispanic. Asian. and other groups. with its sanctions provisions. as well as the telephone verification system would only result in racial discrimination.
