So in the course of 10 years10 years-$2 billion was given in direct relief. Direct relief. You talk about relief and welfare. this was direct monetary relief from the Treasury to individuals and families in this group. even though they were r.ot any more legally here than any undocumented visitor to this country or migrant to this country. Why this double standard? This is the reason that I have been so critical not only of the past hearings and the efforts made to amend the law.
