So that is our choice. and I think our choice should be. as it always has been except in rare instances. that of the bridgebuilder. not the wallbuilder. We built a wall at one time to our eternal shame. In the 1930s. those fleeing the pogroms of Nazi Germany came to many countries seeking admissionboatloads of citizens. people. refugees fleeing the awfulest persecution in the world. We. along with other countries. closed our ports and gates to them. Rejected by all nations. they returned to Nazi Germany. and many of them died in the Holocaust at places like Buchenwald.
