Mr. Chairman. I rise in support of the amendments offered by the Committee on Agriculture to H.R. 1510. the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1983. I speak in behalf of the Committee on Agriculture. Later. if time permits. I will speak in my own capacity on other areas of the bill. Before I proceed. Mr. Chairman. let me say that any amendments offered by the Agriculture Committee. and any statement that I might make as chairman of the Agriculture Committee. in no way detracts from my admiration and respect for the gentleman from New Jersey. chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary. and the distinguished ranking minority member of that committee. and the two gentlemen on the subcommittee. the minority member and the chairman of the subcommittee. who have worked so diligently on this legislation.
