Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980210457

Mr. Chairman. a great many statements have been made on the floor of this House. Just a little while ago someone said that the vast majority of Americans support immigration reform. and with that I wholeheartedly agree. But that is where our differences start. We disagree on the kind of legislation that is before this House. We firmly believe that it is not immigration reform. If we go back to what happened in the 97th Congress. we will probably remember that at that particular time hearings were held. I and many other Members of the House testified for or against this piece of legislation.
