Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980209503

The Indians are not allowed to work their fields in the mountains to sow their crops. they are not allowed to fish. they are not allowed to hunt. and so on a daily basis we see young people and children and old people dying of hunger. This is not only happening in Nicaragua. This is also happening in the refugee camps in Honduras and Costa Rica. And the children are dying daily because of hunger and lack of medicine. At the present time. there are some 20.000 Miskito Indians that have sought refuge in Honduras and another 6.000 or 7.000 in Costa Rica.
