These schools. and more importantly. these students need help. We have all heard of the high cost of living in Alaska. where in the rural areas. it is 160 to 220 percent higher than in the continental United States. These high costs carry over to administering education programs. which are then compounded with the costs of meeting the special education needs of migrant students. Although the migrant education program is intended to provide assistance in serving these students. because of the wording of current law. many of Alaskas migrant students are not eligible. My bill is a technical amendment to chapter 1 to correct this problem. The amendment simply states that: . . .
