Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980188874

Finally and. perhaps. most importantly. we will convey a sense of hope and encouragement to our many suffering friends who merely want to exercise their basic rights of religion. speech. assembly. and movement. I would like to thank the Greater New York Conference on Soviet Jewry for offering all of us this opportunity to convey our continued support for Soviet Jewish refuseniks and Prisoners of Conscience. We will persevere in our solidarity until all Soviet Jews are allowed to live their lives as Jews in the Soviet Union or are allowed to emigrate to Israel. I am confident that Solidarity Sunday will bring us one step closer to that day.*
