I rise to invite my colleagues to join me in supporting S. 1989. a bill to confer U.S. citizenship on Mr. Vladimir V. Yakimetz. Mr. Yakimetz. recently a citizen of the Soviet Union. worked until December 1983 as an international civil servant in the United Nations Secretariat in New York City. Before going any further. I wish to express my appreciation to the distinguished chairman of the Judiciary Committee . the ranking member of the committee . and the chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee (Mr. SimpSON) for their cooperation in expediting consideration of S. 1989. S. 1989 was introduced on October 21. 1983.
