I would like to take a moment to recognize the Nation of Thailands truly outstanding accomplishments in the area of refugee resettlementa subject I am well acquainted with as a member of the Immigration Subcommittee. For many years now. Thailand has been a haven for thousands and thousands of refugees from Vietnam. Kampuchea. and Laos who have fled Communist terror and oppression. For any nation. such an influx would pose enormous logistical and organizational problems and would require a major commitment on the part of that nation to undertake the challenge of overcoming them.
