Mr. Speaker. it is with a sense of urgency that I join in this special order to pay tribute to the hundreds of thousands of Soviet Jews. who are providing witness to the spirit of freedom that exists in all peoples. By seeking to obtain the human right to emigrate. to practice their religion freely. and to study their own history and culture. the Jewish community of the Soviet Union is providing inspiration to all people who wish to be free. We. in this country. who are part of the civil and human rights movement. must pay attention to this struggle by courageous Jewish refuseniks. because it is part of a common struggle against oppression. Today. marks the eighth anniversary of the arrest of Mr.
