Mr. Speaker. I would like to take a few moments to draw my colleagues attention to the continuing plight of Soviet Jewish refuseniks and. in particular. to the case of the Pavel Abramovich family. The Abramovich family first applied for permission to emigrate to Israel in February of 1971. Their application was denied later that year on the grounds that Mr. Abramovich had "access to secret information." Subsequently. he was fired from his job as an electronics engineer. Pavel Abramovich is a Hebrew instructor. who has been threatened with arrest and imprisonment by the Soviet Government as a result of his teaching activities.
