I will ask consent to have printed in the RECORD a sequence of what I have done to try to ascertain these questions without proceeding to the submission of this private bill and without proceeding to the request for the hearing. which I previously noted has been granted by the chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary. On May 10. 1983. I wrote to Attorney General Smith advising him that a number of my constituents had contacted me concerning Michael ORourke. an Irish citizen who was arrested in Philadelphia on October 30. 1979. and charged with violating U.S. immigration laws. One of those who brought the matter to my attention was Mrs. ORourke. who is a constituent of mine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
