Endestad has been a permanent resident for 2 years and some 7 months. The normal waiting period is 3 years. This bill simply waives the remainder of the waiting period. about 6 or 7 months. and allows the immigration judge to make a decision on the merits. It does not make the applicant a citizen. it will just get him a normal. legal hearing in time for the winter Olympics. The chairmen and ranking Republicans on the Judiciary Committee. and the Immigration Subcommittee. have no objection to this motion. I ask unanimous consent that the Judiciary Committee be discharged from consideration of the bill. and that it now be considered in the House.
