The Senate has no legal ties to the center. not even in terms of insurance. After the centers opening. I encourage my colleagues to go to the second floor of the Old Immigration Building. where the center will be housed and watch the children play and learn. The Rules Committee has allocated 3.500 square feet for the center and the parents have tentatively selected a curriculum option known as developmental play. The parents have decided to make sure that the center complies with the District of Columbias rules and regulations for day care centers. and it is these regulations which will help determine the staff/child ratio. the number of square feet per child. the size and location of the outdoor play area. and other factors of importance to the safety and wellbeing of the children.
