Of these reported cases. 9.350 allegations were considered serious enough to warrant further investigation. The Citizen Incentive Awards Act will provide additional motivation for individuals to report items that could lead to cost savings for the Federal Government. The bill provides that corporations. partnerships. and associations will not be eligible to receive the awards made available under the act. only nativeborn and naturalized American citizens may receive an award. The inspector general of each agencyor similar employee designated to make such awardswill make a cash payment to citizens reporting waste. fraud or abuse if the report results in substantial savings to the Government. The amount of the award will be either $10.000 or 1 percent of the agencys cost savings. whichever is less.
