Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980118074

Well. this year we have something to shout happily and proudly about. This country made a clean sweep in the science prizes awarded by the Nobel committee. Considering the high quality of scientific scholarship and research in Germany and England and France and Japan and elsewhere. we in America can be very proud indeed. And one element of this American achievement that should make us especially proud is that two of the three American winners were in the great American tradition of immigrants. Henry Tuabe. the countrys outstanding inorganic chemist. was born in Canada. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. a great astrophysicist. was born in India.
