Mr. Speaker. I join my colleagues in paying tribute to Lech Walesa. winner of the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize. I am a native of Poland. I spent my childhood there before emigrating to the United States. The struggles of the Polish people are a deep personal concern of mine. I ferverently hope these beleaguered people become free and able to determine their own future. Lech Walesa symbolizes the struggles of the Polish people for basic human rights and liberties. His selection as the recipient of the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize will strengthen his efforts to insure workers rights to establish their own organizations.
