Discussions have thus far included the possibility of having an interparliamentary meeting in Europe so that we can formulate a plan in conjunction with our European allies to pressure the Soviets to end their obstructive postal procedures. It is clear that the U.S. Postal Service also needs to become more involved in pressing the Soviet postal system to adhere to internationally accepted postal policies. I will continue to work actively in committee to see this important problem addressed. as anyone dealing with those wishing to emigrate from the Soviet Union realizes how critical the receipt of mail from the free world becomes. In this particular issue. as well as others dealing with Soviet misconduct. our approach should be broadened to involve those around the world who share our concern for basic human rights and freedom..
