Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970233270

Commodore Barry became a hero of the American Revolution when the ship he commanded captured an enemy ship in battle. After the Revolution. he bravely defended our new Nation against the pirates who attacked American ships on the high seas. I am particularly proud of Commodore Barrys accomplishments for two reasons. First. as a member of the congressional Friends or Ireland. and a grandson of Irish immigrants. I can certainly appreciate the efforts John Barry took in coming from that grand country across the ocean to live in America. Second. as a member of the Seapower Subcommittee on the House Armed Services Committee.
