Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970225375

I thank the distinguished Senator from Wyoming for that response. The final matter I wish to have a very brief colloquy on relates to the subject of the U.S. Immigration Board. which. under an earlier draft. was to be selected by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. I know that this provision was modified after extensive deliberation by the distinguished Senator from Wyoming so that the Board would be selected by the Attorney General. I understand the considerations which led to that selection process and I had considered the possibility of introducing an amendment to return the statute to its original status.
