Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970224411

Yet. that is the choice he requires us to make. Mr. President. I join with my colleagues here this afternoon and hope that we will reject the Huddleston amendment. If we do. I shall certainly work with not only the chairman of the subcommittee. but with the Senator from Kentucky. to consider how this Nation is going to be able to deal with the longterm problems. of refugees and immigrants. As I stated earlier this morning. some 9 or 10 hours ago. this bill is basically a very measured bill at best. We are going to have to deal further with the flow of people into this Nation.
