Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970224100

I will just say that. even with this amendment. we will still be giving up visas which would go to closer family members. And I am intrigued by the Senator from Maryland with his thoughtful approach to things. as I have learned it in this body. Indeed he is right. That is a reasonable approach. I do not choose to make it a substitute for the amendment by the Senator from Massachusetts. We shall see what occurs with that amendment. but I have been intrigued with the proposal of making it applicable to unmarried minor brothers and sisters or as the House of Representatives has discussed. even up to the age of 27.
