I know of no other committee chairman who has given such careful attention and deliberation to an issue. I think I can safely say that we share common goals in the area of immigration reform. we have resolved our differences. and now will work together in producing a final product acceptable to us both. The staff of the Immigration Subcommittee is probably one of the most knowledgeable and hardworking staffs in the Senate. I commend Dick Day. Donna Alvarado. Chip Wood. and Arnold Leibowitz on their fine work. I also compliment Ally Milder of my staff for her diligent work as well. Of particular help to me has been the Federation for American Immigration Reform including Dr. John Tanton. Mr.
