D.C.. but he is known in many parts of America for his work in prints. sculpture. drawings. and other media. He is a unique and multitalented artist who has contributed much of his talent to themes associated with the Nations Capital. and in turn. his work is displayed in many of our buildings such as the Library of Congress. the White House. and the Supreme Court. and now the Capitol. I think that Phil Ratners documentation of the immigrant experience in America in his piece "The Ellis Island Suite" will be seen and remembered for a long time to come. For his artistic depiction of Europeans coming to this country we will be able to acknowledge an important historic event and gain a lesson in humanity. For this and more. we should owe our debt of gratitude to Phillip Ratner.
