Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970161437

Mr. Speaker. I rise in support of House Resolution 269 to express my desire that the Soviet Union cease the harassment of Yuli Kosharovsky and his family and allow them to emigrate to Israel. Government officials in the Soviet Union have made it clear that they disapprove of Yulis teaching of Hebrew and of his desire to leave the U.S.S.R. To me. that is reason enough to allow the Kosharovsky family to continue their life in a country which welcomes them. their religion and their profession. I commend Congressman CHRis SMITH for bringing the plight of this individual and his family to national attention and urge the adoption of this humanitarian effort..
