Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970161375

Though this is patently false. a civil suit of this nature could prevent the Gluzmans departure from the U.S.S.R. We must see to it that this family is not broken up by Soviet human rights abuses. I am pleased that the timing of this bill coincides with Dr. Gluzmans scheduled release. Despite the KGBs threats. we must insure that Dr. Gluzman is released and permitted to emigrate with his family to Israel. Our unanimous outrage over the Soviets treatment of this brave man and his family must reach the Soviets and persuade them that the U.S. Government will not countenance their abuse.
