Coffinas has held elective offices in AHEPA from the local to the national level throughout his 36 years of active membership. A native of Brooklyn. N.Y.. he served in the Air Force during World War II. and was graduated from St. Johns University and School of Law. He began his distinguished law career in 1952. and Is licensed to practice in all New York courts. before the Supreme Court. the Department of Justice. and the Board of Immigration Appeals. A leader in Brooklyns Greek community. he is founder of the Fantis Parochial Schoolthe first Greek Orthodox grammar school in Brooklyn.
