I had the pleasure of meeting with several people from Miami. people who have worked long and hard. on a persontoperson level. to get the people in Miami to come together and let Washington and the rest of the country know that Miamians will not sit idly by in this time of crisis in south Florida. Over the last few months. the rest of the country has become aware of a situation that we Floridians have. sadly. been familiar with for far too long. I am referring to the crime situation and the drug trafficking problems and the immigration crisis in south Florida. A lot of individual citizens. confronted with these problems. would simply have shrugged their shoulders. But Miamians and Floridians have taken the initiative to come to grips with these problems. and that initiative and determination. in the long run. will be the key to success.
