Many have been dropped along footpaths in the border area. where refugees fleeing the country are likely to step on them or pick them up. Some have been disguished as ordinary household items or as toys. Children. as a result. are among the victims of these insidious weaponswhich incidentally. are banned by an International Conventions of which the USSR. among others. is a signatory.
